Rita Mary (Monahan) Johnson

Rita Mary (Monahan) Johnson, 91, Twin Mountain, died on Tuesday January 2, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Walpole, MA with family at her side. She was born in Whitefield, NH on August 4, 1926 to Frank and Mary Alice (Cryans) Monahan. Rita attended local schools and graduated from Twin Mountain High School. On September 6, 1949 she married Irvan M. Johnson. The couple raised a family and owned and operated Johnson’s Motel in Twin Mountain. Rita was a life long resident of Twin Mountain and was a communicant at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Monahann and her husband Michael Divine, Judith Holzendorf, Timothy I. Johnson and his wife Barbara Schmer, Robert M. Johnson, and Jeffery A. Johnson, six grandchildren, Adam, Theresa, Mark, Ryan, Rebecca and Riley, 3 great grandchildren, Jillian, Simon, and Greta, a sister, Kathleen Nunn, a brother, Joseph Monahan, nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog Ali. Rita is predeceased by her husband, Irvan, daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Amy Louise, siblings, Charles, Mildred, Leo, Ruth, Edwin, and Raymond.

Visiting Hours will be Friday May 18, 2018 from 6-8PM at Ross Funeral Home, Whitefield, Chapel, 69 Lancaster Rd. Whitefield, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 65 St. Patrick’s Church Rd, Twin Mountain, NH at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Margaret’s Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in Rita’s Memory to the Twin Mountain Fire Dept Aux, PO Box 119, Twin Mountain, NH 03595.
