Marcia E (Greenan) Ross

Marcia E. Ross, “Grammie Marcia” 74, of Littleton, NH, died peacefully on Thursday, July 30th, at the Grafton County Nursing Home with family by her side. Born in Lebanon, NH, in 1940, the daughter of Carlton and Veronica (Szczerba ) Greenan she attended local schools and graduated from Hanover High School and was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton, MA. She served as the Head Nurse of the Post Anesthesia Recovery Room at the former Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, prior to moving to Littleton. She worked in Saudia Arabia for three years at the King Faisal Hospital in Riyadh and was able to travel abroad to places like Egypt, Turkey and Rome. She worked at Littleton Regional Hospital, and later for North Country Orthopedics with H. Taylor Caswell, MD. Marcia retired from her nursing career as the Director of Nursing at Mount Sacred Heart Convent, Littleton.

 

Marcia was a talented knitter and created beautiful baby blankets, hats and mittens which she often donated to charities. She made mittens for both of her grandsons' classrooms so every child would have warm hands during the cold winters. She was a very proud friend of Bill. She was a communicant and active member of the community at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She loved her summer vacations at Short Sands, York Beach Maine where she spent time with beloved family and friends. She continued that tradition with her grandchildren. Her most cherished treasures in life were her red haired, blue eyed grandchildren Andrew and Christopher. She is predeceased by her father, Carlton Greenan, her twin sister Maryann and her grandson Jonathan Dale Smith.

She is survived by her mother Veronica Greenan, of Wilder, VT, a daughter Tammy and husband Adam Smith, of Littleton, a son Todd C. Ross, of West Sheffield, VT, her two grandsons Andrew and Christopher Smith, of Littleton, NH, her brother Bruce Greenan and wife Lana, Auburn, CA, two sisters, Jean Conger, of Spokane, WA, and Ann Davidson and husband Kenneth, Swampscott MA, her friend Thomas C. Ross, many nieces, nephews, surrogate grandchildren and wonderful friends.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 10th, 3-7PM at the Ross Funeral Home, Littleton Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, August 11th at 11:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Mark Dollard officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Rose Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in memory of Marcia Ross to Boys and Girls Club of the North Country, 2572 Route 302, Lisbon, NH 03585.
