I was so saddened to hear about Matt. Although I had not seen Matt in over 20 years, I have such great memories of our adventures in high school. He was a great friend who would do anything for you, and was always there when you needed him. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Dear Neville Family & all of Matt’s loved ones,

I was so sad to hear the news about Matt’s recent passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Growing up in Hopkinton, I was truly blessed to have Matt as a childhood friend and classmate. His smile and wit could light up a room and he always made me laugh. I have so many fond memories of Matt and his wonderful family, but to this day, whenever I see an old Dodge Charger, I think of him and smile. The Class of '83 has lost a very dear friend and classmate...he will be missed by all of us.

My sincere condolences,
Lori Spendley

Matt touched so many of our lives with his friendship and generous spirit. He was always the go-to guy for any of us that needed help. There are too many memories to count of all the great times with Matt, from growing up in Hopkinton, to visiting him at UNH, to being roommates in Portsmouth, and working together in construction. Matt’s path was not easy, but he always showed his love for his friends. He will be missed.
Jill, Dave, Tim, Dan, Lisa, Christopher; you will be in our prayers. Terry & Brenda Quinn

I am so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. He was such vibrant personality. I am a HHS graduate and with such a small school, knew Matt and Tim and Dan. Later connected with Lisa and Christopher. I send my condolences to the all of family.

Such a shame to lose such a kind and friendly man. Knew him since Hopkinton schools and recently spoke at the Littleton Home depot.

I was so sorry to read of Matt's passing. My brother Paul and I grew up across the street and have great memories of playing with both Matt and Tim. Games like red light green light and with bikes in our driveway. They had a cool car too. May all of your memories comfort you during this time. With love Mary

To the Nevilles and all Matt's loved ones,
Matt had a huge influence on me. From swim team at Kimball Pond where I was awed by his muscular shoulders and fluid butterfly stroke, to being a wide-eyed kid feeling incredibly lucky to be riding in the "Shark" with Matt and my older brother Terry, to working on Matt's crews at Evroks and then R.M. Piper. I always knew I was safely under Matt's wing.
My favorite memory is of the Saturday afternoon Matt, Steve Balch and I had to return to the job site to wet down a concrete bridge deck we had poured earlier in the day in Henniker. It was wicked hot out and Matt was not going to let that deck crack from drying too quickly. I started the pump while Matt and Steve peeled back the sheeting over the concrete. Pretty soon those two were ribbing each other and grab-assing out on the concrete, so I turned the hose on them. A three-inch trash pump puts out water like a fire hose and I was laughing my head off - until they fought their way to me. Then it was a big three-way wrestling match and as anyone who has wrestled Matt knows, you had your hands full! Steve and I finally had to team up on him. Once we were all exhausted we finished the job and went home soaking wet. That was Matt right there. The job got done, it got done right and on-time. And we had fun doing it. Though I hadn't seen Matt in many years, the picture here assures me he was still the same great guy I looked up to. My condolences to you all.

This message is for Jill. Hopefully, you remember me as the itinerant transcriptionist who used to work for Family Physicians of Hopkinton years and years ago! My memory is not the very best, but I am certain that you were one of the lovely "office ladies" who dedicated herself to making that very special organization run like a tight ship. I remembered your husband's name, David, as it is my own son's name (you may remember David as a baby, now 21 years old!)

Anyway, I just had to send my deepest, deepest condolences on your recent loss of your own son, Matthew. I cannot even begin to know the depths to which your grief must plumb, but hope that the light of self-preservation that glimmers within each of us gets brighter with each passing day. I remember you as an extremely special woman, Jill, and I know how much your family meant to you. I also remember a woman of steadfast will, eyes forward without hesitation. This strength will obviously serve to steady your personal course through these undoubtedly tempestuous emotional waters.

Please take care of yourself and your family, and if there is anything at all I can do in some way, please feel free to contact me at the above e-mail address.

I'm so sorry about Matt's passing and sorry I'll be out of state during his services. While Matt and I lost touch over the years, his influence still affects me on a daily basis. Matt was and still is one of the hardest working people and dedicated friends I've ever known. When I see the newer Dodge Chargers on the road I think - "Those aren't Chargers! You should have seen my friend Matt's "Shark!". I have many fond memories of our times in Hopkinton, at UNH and at his parent's house with his mother's famous "Pedro's" dip as a treat during football games. I'm thankful to have had Matt in my life during the early years and am sure a large part of who I am now is because of friends like Matt. I'm so sorry for your loss. With love, Paul McGrath
