To Kent's family and loved ones:

I only just now read that Kent had passed away. While I was a student at Drake University (1979-83), Kent and I were avid members of the D. U. College Republicans. He was consistently supportive, kind, and knowledgeable. While we were in different fraternities (he was a Teke; I, an SAE), our mutual dedication to the GOP cause made us close allies and good friends.

May this smart, kind man rest in peace.

Best Regards,

TODD A. BLODGETT

Tami - I just discovered Kent's passing. I am so sorry I did not know. Kent and I were great friends when we were at Drake. We had tons of fun at the TKE house events and Kent was always so kind, gregarious and joyful. Kent was my dancing partner and he and I used to swing dance together at parties and weddings. We had many good laughs together with the TKEs and Gamma Phis where he was a great friend to many of us in the house. I loved his involvement in the government and it inspired me to intern at the state capitol and work on a governor election campaign. I did get to see Kent and reconnect several years ago. In fact, I was, luckily, able to meet you too and see how happy you made him. It was a lovely dinner. Please accept my late condolences. Kent was a gem and I loved him dearly as a friend. Tisha

I was out of the country when Kent died, so did not know until I spotted an obituary in late December. What a big, jolly, bear of a man! I loved him! He worked on several of my campaigns and kept us on track with his good humor, wisdom and vast experience in politics. Tami, you may not remember, but we bumped into you and Kent on a plane flight (maybe to North Carolina??) about 2 years ago. I was so happy to see he had found such a great life partner, and was now happily married to her. I am so sad at his leaving us much too soon. Cile

To the Lage Family, Kent was a tireless advocate for the Agricultural Community in MA. We worked together under Governors Cellucci and Swift at Environmental Affairs. We could always count on Kent to give us a frank and honest assessment on Farm policy. He cared deeply about the plight of the family farm and will be missed for both his intellect and wit. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lage family at this time. Bob Durand

This is such a great loss! Kent was a driving force behind many agricultural and 4-H initiatives in this state. As Executive Director of the Mass. 4-H Foundation, and then Board Chair he was a visionary and a most generous supporter. I will remember him from the 4-H golf tournament, and the Ag Club summer outings as times we would have "chats" about upcoming trips and international places of interest. I would moan about our teams golf score, always the worst, and he would just smile with a twinkle in his eye. Last August at the SE MA Summer Field Day he was so relaxed and excited about the NH move, so short lived. Tami and Kent...such a great team. He will be sorely missed in many circles. My condolences during this most difficult time.

Tami, Jill, Ken,
You all have my deepest sympathy. Kent was a wonderful person -- seemed like he was always smiling. I know him from high school -- band, plays, polka dances, etc. He was always so thoughtful and kind, and fun. He left us with a lot of good memories, and he will be dearly missed. My thoughts and heart are with you and your family.

Tami,
I have not met you but am Kent's second cousin from Iowa. Our fathers both farmed...we could see Kenny's farm from ours. I have many memories of going with my parents and sisters to their home. It was always a treat! Kent always had a kind and funny heart growing up and even when teased did not get angry or sullen but was always joyful. We rode the same school bus and I often felt very defensive for him... he was fine even so. Earlier this year we reconnected via FB😊 It was good to hear from him. When my father passed in May he shared his warmth and condolences...it always helps. I'm so sorry he was taken from you so early. In reading things that people have posted he clearly was an amazing man who shared so much with others. So good to hear he openly helped and inspired others with his God given gifts. May you know the peace and comfort that only God can give and have the assurance of seeing Kent again someday. - please share my condolences to Jill and Kenny.

Dear Tami, Ken, Jill, and the Lage Family

How can it be - the passing of time - and a lifetime. Tami - i knew Kent way before you did - but in the end, of course, you knew him better and more meaningful. He was just a little rug rat running around his parents house one day when I was working for Ken one summer time about 1961. Joyce was fixing breakfast and we were kind of rough housing. And wouldn't you know, Kent ran thru a doorway, slipped and hit his head on the corner of furniture. Off to the Dr.s for a couple of stitches --- the first of many of life's blows. Did he still bear the scar on his temple? I felt terrible - but he mended - tensions eased and life went on.
How can it be - a lifetime passes away? I probably only saw Kent 2 or 3 more times in later life - but I followed his career thru his parents info and Christmas cards, wedding announcements, etc. It is my loss that I didn't get to know or visit you folks more closely. I'm sad for your loss, sad Kent's retirement was cut so short, I'm sure you had plans of things to do, of trips you wanted to make.............
Being a Forester, having a brother that makes a living by logging and another brother that was in the outdoor resort business, it pleases me a great deal that memorials can be made to N.H. Forest Fund. From condolences recorded here, Kent truly has made a difference in peoples lives as well as mine! Praise be to God for a great life lived !!

I am stunned and immensely saddened to hear this news. I counted Kent as a friend as well as a colleague. He was a such a positive force in our 4-H world and held in high esteem by everyone he came into contact with. We will all miss him greatly. I will endeavor to move forward through those situations where I would have called on him for help to think, "What Would Kent Do"?
Please share my deepest condolences to Tami and his extended family.

I was shocked to hear this terrible news. Kent was such a good spirited warrior in the Massachusetts political wars of the 1980’s and 1990’s. He thrived fighting the good fight of political insurgency, knowing that success was often measured more by the effort than the immediate results. He showed scores of political activists how to fight, laugh and keep moving forward in spite of ourselves. Many years ago, when I was deciding about a run for state the decision finally came down to whether or not Kent would manage my race. I didn’t win but the experience of turning my life over to him for a year was unforgettable. Kent was one of the most grounded people I have known, always able to calm panic and chaos with a detached practical perspective that usually left you laughing in the process. There are still people in politics and government who are where they are now partly because of the work Kent did years ago. Thank you, friend. You made a difference. Peter Forman

I am deeply shocked and saddened by Kent's passing. Kent was a great guy, always with a smile on his face, he was an easy person to work with and for, when he requested something be done, he did it in the nicest way possible and never put pressure on you. I greatly enjoyed looking at this travel photos after coming back to the office after one of his many travels with Tami. I will always remember him, and I have good memories of his time with the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture Resources, he left us too soon, both when he left the Department and in his passing. May God bless his soul, and rest in peace Kent.

Dear Tami, and the Lage Family. I was truly shocked, and much saddened this morning, when I learned of Kent's passing by a member of the St.Anne Choir, in
Salem, Ma.of which Kent, was a much loved and respected member as well..!!
Kent was a "buddy" , a good buddy to all, to anyone, who needed his help, some kind of assistance, or just a "kind word". Yes, Tami,.. he made it very clear when he met you, that you were "the one"..! We were all so happy for him. May the Good Lord be with you Tami, and Kent's dad and family, and be your strength through this time of grieving.
Sincerely,....Joe Stella

Dear Tami: We are so saddened by Kent's passing. Something you may not have known was that I babysat him and Jill when I was just 13 and had first moved to Durant. His parents didn't trust him to care for Jill on his own. Probably thought they would destroy the house or something! Randy & I have so many good memories of Kent and he will always have a special place in our hearts as he does in so many others. I am so glad that he found you and made a life with you, however brief it was. One of my favorite memories was when we were in school in Des Moines and we went out for pizza, Kent was driving and pulled up to a stop sign. Of course he was talking quite a bit and we sat there and sat there and sat there. Finally we asked him if he was waiting for the sign to turn green! What a hoot! May he rest in peace and may God give you peace in knowing how loved he was. Our prayers go out to you. Randy & Polly
