William "Bill" Charles Cushing, 80, of Littleton, NH, went to his Heavenly home on January 16, 2025. Born on August 21, 1944, in Littleton, NH, he was the son of Charles W. Cushing and Margery Paro. Bill proudly served in the Army National Guard, embodying dedication and service to his country. A devoted member for 16 years of The American Legion, District 8 in Woodsville, Post 68, he served as a sergeant-at-arms, presenting scholarships to six local high schools, and as a service officer, assisting fellow veterans in obtaining VA benefits. His unwavering commitment to his fellow servicemen and community was a testament to his compassionate spirit. His love for history and civic duty was reflected in his efforts to restore and place a plaque honoring the soldiers from Littleton who fought in the Revolutionary War. Additionally, from 2009 to 2014, Bill served as a trustee of the Littleton Public Library. A man of deep faith, Bill was a devout Catholic throughout his life. His love for the Lord was evident in his kindness, generosity, and unwavering moral compass. He was a pillar of his community, an amazing mentor, and above all, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Cushing and Margery Paro; his brother, Vincent Cushing; and his son-in-law, Michael Wood.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Michael Cushing, Charity Locklear, and Stacy Wood; his grandchildren, Alexander Cushing (Kristin), Nickolas Locklear, Anastasia Goff, Brandon Garner (Kelsey), and Ciara Glaser (Nathan); and his great-grandchildren, Lukas Cushing, Grayson Locklear, Brantley Garner, Elliana Glaser, Brayden Garner, Wrenley Garner, and Blair Glaser.
Bill’s legacy of service, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 1, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Ryan Amazeen officiating. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 1, 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Cemetery, Whitefield, NH.
