Thomas Oakes Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Thomas J. Oakes, known as “TomCat,” at the age of 26. Thomas passed away on Tuesday, April 8 th , 2025, in a tragic car accident. A beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and cat dad, he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength.

Thomas was born on February 8 th ,1999, at Littleton Regional Hospital to John and Julie (White) Oakes. He was raised in Littleton alongside his three siblings—Kylie, Kara, and Taylor—and graduated from North Country Charter Academy in 2017. He later moved to Bethlehem, NH in 2022, where he built a loving home with his wife and their three cats.

Thomas married Jessica Duncan on July 8 th , 2024, in a private ceremony in Manchester, NH. The couple had been together since December 2020, and recently celebrated their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. Thomas was a dedicated and well-respected employee at Littleton Market & Produce (formerly Big Papa’s Fruit & Vegetable), where he worked for over seven years. Starting as a cashier, he worked his way up to lead produce associate and eventually Assistant Manager. During the store’s renovations, he briefly worked at Franconia Market & Deli and left a lasting impression there as well. He was known by coworkers and customers alike as funny, hardworking, and helpful. His quiet leadership, pride in his work, and impact on the local community left a lasting impression.

A true automotive enthusiast, Thomas had a deep passion for Volkswagen Passats and his Oldsmobile Intrigue, proudly participating in online car communities and dedicating much of his time to vehicle restoration and customization. He was always willing to lend a hand with car repairs or household projects for friends and family. He had a talent for fixing things. At home, Thomas enjoyed quiet evenings with his wife, cooking together, playing video games, going on drives, and dancing around the apartment. He loved spending time with friends and family, whether it was apple picking, dining out, or simply sharing laughs at home. Above all, Thomas was a devoted and loving husband, a phenomenal cat dad, and a compassionate presence in the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Duncan, and their three cats, Casper, Sterling Archer, and Luna; his parents, John and Julie Oakes; his siblings, Kylie, Kara, and Taylor Oakes; grandparents, Henry and Diana White; three nieces and two nephews; and many loving relatives and friends.

Thomas’s presence is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who were lucky enough to know him. The family wishes to thank the incredible outpouring of love and support from the community, especially: Littleton Market & Produce, for hosting a memorial fundraiser and tribute supporting Thomas’s family; Franconia Market & Deli, for their memorial efforts and continued support; Shrubby’s Smokeshack, for donating proceeds in Thomas’s honor; and to our family, friends, and community—thank you for your compassion and generosity during this unimaginable time.

A friends and family gathering will take place Thursday, May 1, Ross Funeral Home, from 4-6 PM.
