Steven Francis Bianchi

After courageously battling cancer for over three years, Steven Francis Bianchi of Dalton, NH, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl Bianchi with whom he shared 44 years of a life built on love, kindness, charity, and adventure. Born in Boston, MA, Steve was the son of Ralph and Rita Bianchi. Early on his parents moved to Attleboro, MA where they raised their six children. From childhood to adulthood, Steve guided his life based on his unconditional love for family.

Steve taught ninth grade biology for 30 years at Riverside Junior High in East Providence, RI. Within his classes, he opened the doors of knowledge to his students, using creative and innovative methods, preferring a hands-on approach instead of lecturing. In addition, Steve taught his students the importance of paying it forward, organizing a school talent show, the proceeds going to the Special Olympics. By the end of the show, the audience was in tears, when Steve’s students and some of the school’s learning disabled sang, We Are The World. Steve also wanted his students to learn that there was more to being a good Samaritan than raising money. Consequently, he created an interactive program that included the school’s Special Olympians with some of his homeroom and classroom students. Together they could be found playing basketball at the gym, learning that all kinds of people are important.

Throughout his adult life, Steve continued to do charitable work. As a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, he helped build houses for those in need living in the North Country. He also shared his building expertise with the AHEAD organization, making house repairs for homeowners in need. Steve also continued his support for the Special Olympics, coaching adaptive athletes who were downhill ski racers.

Steve was the true Renaissance man. For many years, he was a ski instructor at Cannon Mountain and at Bretton Woods. Also, because Steve was a skilled carpenter, he was able to build his beautiful Dalton home. Steve loved hiking the majestic New Hampshire trails, as well as riding his motorcycle with Cheryl along the backroads so they could take in New Hampshire’s beauty. In addition, Steve was a talented musician who was self-taught. He played the keyboard and the guitar, often entertaining family and friends, harmonizing with his wife to some of their favorite songs.

Steve was predeceased by a sister and a brother. He is survived by three sisters and many nieces and nephews who loved to talk to Uncle Steve because he told the best stories and the most hilarious jokes. He will also be remembered by countless friends who could always rely on him for a helping hand.
