In loving memory, our Sister Henrietta M. Lessard was called back to her loving God on August 7, 2025, after a long illness. We give special thanks to the staff of the Holy Cross Health Care Center at Manchester, NH, as well as to the Warde Assisted Living Center at Windham, NH for their care and concern while Sister Henrietta was in their care, Sister Henrietta lived a long, faith-filled life as a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for 73 years. She was born on May 29, 1932 at North Troy, Vt.
Sister Henrietta is predeceased by her father, Henry Lessard born in St. Orlean, PQ, and her mother, Anna Fecteau (Lessard), born in St. Marie, PQ, her brothers, Lawrence, Dominque, John, Jules, Paul, Philip, Norbert, and sisters, Georgette, Jeannine and Sister Rose Helen FCSCJ (Rita). She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Test of Greenfield, Indiana, and sister-in-law Rita Lessard of Derby, Vt. Sister had many nieces and nephews who remained close to their Aunt,
Sister had a varied educational background. She received a BA from St Rose College in Albany N.Y. She took courses at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., the University of Vermont, State University of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and a sabbatical year of Spirituality at Galilee Center at Arnprior, Ontario.
Sister’s life experience in education consisted of teaching all elementary levels from Kindergarten to Grade 8, in Catholic Schools in Newport, Vt., Champlain, N.Y., Morrisonville, N.Y., and in the Religious Education Program at Middleboro, MA.
Sister Henrietta has enjoyed rich family experiences. Being the tenth child of twelve children in the family, holidays were always a joy, with aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. She attributes her Dad, of Irish descent, for giving the family a joy of living and healthy attitudes towards life. Her Mother of French Canadian descent gave them a spirit of faith and peaceful acceptance of God’s will on the journey of life. Her sister, Sister Rose Helen influenced her choice of religious life.
Sister became a true Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus carrying this rich heritage into her life in mission with God’s children, her family and sisters in community, as well as all persons who came into her life. Our Congregation has been blessed with her presence among us.
Sister Henrietta, we stay united with you as you enjoy a delightful family reunion in a spirit of joy and peace that only God can give!
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on August 21, at 10:00 am, at St Rose of Lima Church 77 Clay St. Littleton, NH 03561 Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newport, Vt on August 21, 2025 at 2:30 pm.
