Ricky Burke Sr. Obituary

Ricky Burke Sr, age 73, of Littleton, NH, passed away suddenly on April 2, 2026. Born in 1953 in Vermont, Ricky walked proudly through his time in foster care beginning at the age of four. Despite not finding his forever home, Ricky spoke highly of one foster father and a social worker who looked out for him until he aged out of the system. Ricky married Tina Sheppard in 1974 and started a family of his own. They welcomed two children before Ricky moved his family to Littleton, NH, in 1980.

A mechanic by trade, Ricky was trained by his good friend, Edmund Labbe Sr. of Bellows Falls, Vermont. This led to working for companies like Cray Oil, Audley, Pike, L.R. Crowe Trucking, Maine Drilling and Blasting Inc., and Austin Powder Company.

Ricky will always be remembered for his sense of humor and devotion to his friends who were like family. While he was quieter in recent years due to declining health, Ricky knew how to have
a good time. Many will remember the “Regatta” parties he would throw where his tricks and talents never ceased to amaze the crowd. Lucky to be alive as long as he was, per his own reflection, Ricky will be dearly missed.

Those lucky enough to call him family are his biological sister, Patricia Lyman, his daughter, Jennifer Gilbert and spouse, Fred, his son, Ricky Burke Jr. and girlfriend, Tracy Ward. Ricky was especially proud of his five grandchildren: Katelyn Chase, Evan Gilbert, Jacey Burke, Jemma Burke, and Jolee Burke. His life was not complete without his lifelong friend, Lea Barrett, who
spent endless hours caring for Ricky’s needs. The family is forever grateful for her patience and persistence in supporting Ricky over their long friendship. Ricky also leaves behind many friends
including Barry Benson and Tom Fillion, who was his sidekick and neighbor. The family would like to acknowledge the many people who called Ricky “friend.” No matter how you crossed paths,
may you find solace in knowing he thought of you like family.

In Ricky fashion, he’s requested no services. However, expect a gathering during warmer weather to share stories and celebrate the man who was forever 29. The family asks that those wishing to honor Ricky consider making donations to support children in foster care through the NH Foster & Adoptive Parent Association (NHFAPA), 9 Webster Street, Nashua, NH, or via PayPal. His children are grateful knowing that current foster children will benefit from your support. May your association with Ricky encourage you to do right by others and cherish all you have.
