Raymond Niles

Raymond “Ray” Allen Niles, 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, October 4th dying suddenly at his home in Littleton, NH. Ray was born in 1953 in Scotia, CA, and grew up in Newport Center, VT. He served in the Air Force after high school. He graduated with honors from Champlain College with degrees in Accounting and Business. He served on the Executive Committee for Relay for Life in St. Johnsbury, VT, and volunteered in NH. He was known for his love of family and friends, and his concern and willingness to help others even those he barely knew. In his daughter’s words he “never met a stranger.” Ray served as a deacon in the Newport Center Advent Christian church in past years and was a trustee of the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield, NH. Ray was predeceased by his father George Niles and his brother Douglas Niles both from Newport Center, VT.

He is survived by his wife Edna Niles of Littleton, NH; mother of his children Kathi Niles; daughter Kate and son-in-law Matthew Schwanke and their two children Aniston and Eli of Ocala, FL; his son Bryce and daughter-in-law Tabita Niles and their two children Denni and Jace of Eden, VT; step-daughter Joanna Cardinal and her husband Josh Caissie of Somerville MA; his mother Margaret Lorraine Niles of Waterville, VT; his brother Timothy Niles of Newport Center, VT; his brother Kevin and wife Julie Niles of Newport Center, VT; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on October 29th at 10 am at the Community Baptist Church located at 27 Jefferson Road, Whitefield, NH followed by a graveside service at the Park Street Cemetery with Military Honors and a reception immediately after at the Community Baptist Church.
