Mary Considine Obituary

Mary Considine (1929-2018), loving wife, mother, grandmother and civic leader passed away in the company of her loved ones last week. Mary raised three children and a grandson, who are deeply grateful for her constant love and guidance. Born and raised in New York City during the Great Depression, she grew up in New York and New Jersey area. She met her husband John, a Naval electrician and lived in the Bronx for several years. Together, they moved to New Hampshire with their three children, where they maintained a home for 50 years.

Mary was a lifelong Catholic and C.C.D. teacher in the Littleton and Franconia parish and an unwavering believer in the teachings of the Catholic Church. She had a special place in her heart for the disadvantaged, the poor, and the elderly. Serving as a Den Leader, Mother’s Guild organizer, and Bethlehem Civic Club and P.T.A. officer, she led many fundraisers, charitable events, and social activities in the community. A fierce advocate for special needs children, she was instrumental in bringing special education programs to Northern New Hampshire. Working as a telephone operator at New England Tel & Tel, she represented dozens of union workers in the Littleton and Laconia area as a union steward and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 50 years and two sisters, Margaret Adams and Madeline Giannoutsos. She is survived by her brother Andy Devoe, and children Mark, Margaret, and Martin Considine, grandchildren Breandan, Kevin, and Krista Considine, and great-grandchildren Denise, Hayden, Killian, and Kroix Considine.

There will be a wake on Thursday June 7, 2018 at Ross Funeral Home, 282 West Main St. Littleton, NH from 5 to 7 P.M. Fr. Matthew Mason will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10AM at Our Lady of the Mountains Shrine, 2470 Route 302 East, Bretton Woods, NH followe by interment at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to the Roman Catholic Church or affiliated charity of your choice.
