Maria Arminda (Goulart) Azevedo

Maria Arminda Goulart Azevedo, 93, of Littleton passed peacefully on December 15th from natural causes. Maria was born in November 3, 1929 in Horta, Azores, Portugal to Antonio de Rosa Goulart and Maria Conceicao. At the age of 22, Maria married the love of her life Antonio Santos. They were inseparable for 67 years until Antonio had passed away in 2018. Their family was complete with five children. Together, they traveled the world making many memories. Maria cared deeply for her children and lived for them. Maria was known for sharing memories with everyone she passed by, even though she only spoke Portuguese. When she realized there was a language barrier, she would tell the story through the photos that she always kept in her purse. She enjoyed making rice pudding, video-taping every family event, painting, crocheting, and watching telenovelas.

Maria is survived by her eldest son Antonio “Tony” Santos of Bethlehem, daughter Connie Santos of Winterville, NC, granddaughters Leslie (Santos) Terra, Sheila Costa-Hibbard, Katerina Sourgiadakis, and Sofia Sourgiadakis, and eight great-grandchildren. Maria is predeceased by her husband Antonio, her sons Manuel “Manny” Azevedo, Jose Azevedo, and daughter Maria Conceicoa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 10:00, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Ryan Amazeen officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
