It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Harrigan, who peacefully left this world on October 13, 2023. She was born on March 17, 1929 in Littleton, NH, to Mabel and Tom Harrigan. She is survived by her beloved Siamese cats, Marlo and Holly, her loving family and her dedicated caregivers. Margaret Ann was raised in Bethlehem, attended Keene State then taught first grade for 41 years in Wallingford, Connecticut. She returned to her childhood home in Bethlehem every summer and went back to Connecticut each September. After retiring, she moved into that same house on Beech Hill. Margaret Ann loved to travel. She traveled the world. She went to Ireland multiple times to experience her ancestry as she was Irish through and through. Another highlight that she loved was traveling to Rome and meeting the Pope. Her twice yearly stays in Cape Cod with her dear friends were her favorite. Margaret Ann was a dedicated volunteer. At the local hospital, she was recognized as an incredible volunteer. Her records show 19 years of volunteering with over 6900 hours served. She never asked for recognition. No matter the weather, holiday or any situation, she showed up for her devoted volunteer work. She gave of herself on a regular basis. Margaret Ann was beloved and cherished by the people that truly knew her. She touched the lives of many. Margaret will be deeply missed by her family members, friends, and loved ones. She was a truly unique and special woman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 14, at 11am, at Saint Rose Of Lima Church with Father Ryan Amazeen officiating. A graveside service will follow immediately after at the St. Rose Cemetery. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time. May Margaret Ann's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing to us all. "Though Margaret Ann may be gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts."
