Marcel L Deveau

 Marcel L. Deveau, 67, of Whitefield, NH, passed away suddenly on October 4, at his home. Marcel was born on April 1, 1954, and raised in Wilmington, Massachusetts. After graduating from Wilmington High School in 1972, he began working for New England Telephone Co. where he retired as a senior Lineman. He volunteered with the town of Whitefield as a firefighter and EMT, and became a certified police officer, working for the Whitefield, Dalton, Lancaster, and Carroll Police Departments. After his retirement, he joined the Coos County Sheriff’s Department. Many people got to know him from his time “guarding the gates” at the Lancaster Fair, which he did for over 30 years. Marcel was a dedicated public servant of many north country communities and was always at the ready to help others. He made many friendships along the way and cherished each of them. Along with raising his three children with his wife in the heart of the White Mountains, Marcel enjoyed many different road trips to the ocean, camping, fishing, his standing morning coffee time with his son, Steven, and chasing sunrises with his best friend Judy. He could always be found relaxing with coffee on the porch, checking the temperatures in Arizona and other warm vacation spots. His summers were best spent sunbathing on the back porch drinking a Hurricane or Captain, listening to the scanner, music, or the news as loud as possible. Marcel enjoyed his days with the grandkids, always ready for a fishing expedition or treasure hunting adventure with the metal detector. He was always willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat to anyone who needed it. He was known and loved for his kindness and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy (Judith DeLaiarro), along with his three children and their families; daughter Marybeth Robinson and husband Chad, their children Wyatt and Keira, of Whitefield, NH; daughter Ellen Rennie and husband Chris of Bethlehem; son Steven and wife Kaitlyn Deveau and their son Lincoln, of Littleton, NH; a brother Ronald Deveau and his family of Florida. He is pre-deceased by his parents Wilfred J. and Yvonne Deveau of Wilmington, MA; mother-in-law Judy DeLaiarro of Plainville, MA. Marcel also leaves behind many loving relatives in Massachusetts, friends, and neighbors.

Visiting hours for Marcel will take place on Friday, October 15th, from 4 to 7 pm at Ross Funeral Home in Littleton, NH with a Celebration of Life at 7 PM with Reverend Lyn Winter officiating. Donations can be made in Marcel’s memory to your local emergency services departments.
