Lillian “Lil” Brusseau was born on July 1, 1942, in Littleton, New Hampshire. She attended the Littleton school system and, after graduating, worked for many years at the Littleton Telephone Company. Following a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, she retired early but remained active in her community. She generously gave her time volunteering at the Lane House and was a familiar face at many school events while her daughters were growing up.
In January 1964, Lil married the love of her life, Bob Brusseau. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Lil was known for her infectious smile, quick wit, and spirited personality. She had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Throughout her life, Lil pursued a variety of hobbies and interests. She spent countless hours painting and gardening, and also enjoyed macrame—rewarding herself with a coffee brandy only after she’d finished, joking that otherwise, the project would never get done. Despite the challenges of her arthritis, she remained incredibly active. She loved hiking, biking, boating, camping, skiing, relaxing by the pool and later in life, traveling. One of her fondest memories was a special trip to Jamaica with just the girls.
Lil is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Wells and Jo-Ann Brusseau; four grandchildren—two granddaughters and two grandsons; and her five brothers: Clayton, David, Stanley, Hugh, and Bob. As the only girl among six siblings, she proudly claimed the title of "toughest of them all."; One brother even admitted she was the only sibling he was ever afraid of. Another lovingly called her the matriarch of the family—a role she embraced wholeheartedly.
Lil’s strength, humor, and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ross Funeral Home on Friday, September 19, from 10:00 to 12:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery.
