Joyce Ellen (Cole) Day

Joyce Ellen (Cole) Day was born to the late Hollis and Caroline (Conkrite) Cole on November 10, 1947, in New Milford, CT. She passed away on January 21, 2022, in Woodsville, NH with all four of her children by her side.

Joyce graduated from New Milford High School in 1965 and married Frank DeForest shortly afterward. Together they had three sons and one daughter, raising them in New Milford, CT. Joyce shared her love of horses with her children, as well as her granddaughters. Joyce thoroughly enjoyed buying, selling, and of course, collecting antiques.

In recent years, Joyce had reconnected with and married her high school friend, Tommy Day. They enjoyed several years together in the quiet beauty of the White Mountains.

She is survived by her brothers Todd Cole and wife Suzanne, Timothy Cole and wife Kathy, Jack Cole and wife Debbie; her sisters, Susan Fiello and husband Tom, Diane Perlowski and husband Roland, and Holly Cole; her three sons, David DeForest, Matthew DeForest, and wife Allison, Kyle DeForest and wife MaryAnn; daughter, Jennifer Rugar and husband James.

Joyce also leaves behind five granddaughters, Jessica Matusewicz, Kealy DeForest, Ashley DeForest, Kilby Brunner DeForest, Sydney Butler and fiancé Tristan Charles; and one grandson Alexander Butler; as well as two great-granddaughters Hailey Clark and Maeve Charles; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including her dear friend Pastor Clint Brake.

Joyce was predeceased by two brothers, Jon Cole and Craig Cole; and her husband Carlton “Tommy” Day.

A graveside service will be held at Morningside Cemetery in Gaylordsville, CT on June 11, 2022, at 11 am, celebrating the lives of Joyce, Tommy, and Craig.
