John H. Woolhouse Jr.

John Woolhouse, 86, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2025. He was born in Warwick, RI to John Henry Woolhouse Sr. and Florence Beatrice (Carpenter) Woolhouse. John grew up in Warwick, RI, graduating from Warwick Vets High School in 1956. In 1965 he met Martha Louise (Gardiner) Woolhouse, they were wed May 11th, 1968 and went on to have 2 daughters. In 1988 he retired from Monarch East in Lisbon, CT and moved to Twin Mtn., NH where he would hone his skills as a hobbyist woodworker. He built many picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, and moose hat racks that scatter the north country and have been proudly used by local vacation properties. 

John, or “dad” and “papa” as he was more affectionately known by, spent his younger days playing football, waterskiing on Lake Winnipesaukee, and riding around in his Tropical Rose 1955 Ford Crown Victoria and 1962 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Convertible, bragging  “everyone who saw it knew the name and model just from looking at it.” 

He will be missed at his usual haunts like Dunkin and Gold House. John is predeceased by his parents, and wife of 46 years, Martha Woolhouse. He is survived by his sister Juanita Gray of Warwick, RI, daughter Beth Donovan and husband Tim of Whitefield, NH, daughter Leslie Siggins and husband Charles of Yarmouth Port, MA, granddaughter Caitlin Wemette and husband Scott of Milton, VT, grandchildren Sarah MacKenzie Donovan, Abigail Grace and Phineas John Siggins, and great granddaughter Amelia Louise Wemette, as well as several other friends and family members. 

There will be a Friends and Family gathering at Ross Funeral Home, Littleton, NH on Saturday, March 22nd from 12-2PM. At the request of the family, a private service will be held at Straw Cemetery in Twin Mtn at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to The Twin Mountain Historical Society, 92 School Street, Twin Mountain, NH, 03595 or to Riverside Rescue,236 Riverside Ave Lunenburg, Vermont 05906 .
