Janice Marie (Frechette) Sherwood

Janice Marie Sherwood (Frechette) also known as “Grammy frog” age of 68 from Whitefield New Hampshire passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 25, 2022, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

Born on December 1, 1953, in Whitefield New Hampshire to Doris Frechette (Canfield) and Edward Frechette. Siblings Joyce Frechette Gloria Slagle Sandy Frechette and married her long-life partner James R Sherwood Sr on December 21, 1974.

Janice attended White Mountains regional high school. She worked at Brown Street furniture in Whitefield in her late 20s early 30s. Also worked at Burndy’s in Littleton New Hampshire for several years. Worked most of her career of 28 years Omni mount Washington hotel and resort and held different positions while employed until retirement in 2020.

She loved going to the beach as she and her husband would go to old Orchard Beach in Maine for many years. She continued the tradition and still went on road trips with her son James Sherwood Jr. to Maine. These trips included trips to lighthouses, beaches, whale watching, and making new friends while making wonderful memories together. She was an avid collector of frogs and always joked saying when she dies she wants to be buried with them. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family at family gatherings. She was a very social butterfly. She loved playing bingo with her son and daughter whether or not she won or not she still had fun even if she had to rent a seat. She was incredibly proud of her son Shawn becoming an EMT/Firefighter, owning his own home, and his family. She always liked watching planes coming and taking off in Maine. She had always wanted to ride on the Conway scenic railroad. Her and her daughter fulfilled that for her last fall. She absolutely loved it and it was a memorable event.

She is survived by her three children Virginia Langdoc and son-in-law William from Littleton New Hampshire and son James Sherwood Jr of Whitefield New Hampshire and son Shawn Sherwood and girlfriend Jennifer Howland of Whitefield New Hampshire. She had four grandchildren Alec, Laci, Tristin, and Harper. Also a sister Gloria Slagle of Tamworth New Hampshire. She has one niece Bobbi Jo Hodge and a nephew Stephen Hodge.

Predeceased late husband James Sherwood Sr passed in 2001. Her mom Doris passed in 1986 her dad Edward passed in 2001 Two sisters Sandy Frechette and Joyce Frechette passed in 2016.

A graveside service will be at the Park Street cemetery in Whitefield New Hampshire on Wednesday, July 6 at 4:30 PM. A Celebration of Life will be followed at the Whitefield Fire Station for anyone who wants to attend and share stories of our beloved Janice who will be deeply missed by many.
