James McMahon “Jim”, 96, of Littleton, N.H., died Monday, April 13, 2026 at The Village at Riverglen.  He was born in 1929 in Washington, D.C., to Blanche Brickerd and Harry William McMahon.  He was the brother to three sisters Maureen McMahon (deceased), Janet Iekel, and Joan Sappington. He attended Nativity Elementary School and graduated from St. Anselm Priory School, both in Washington, D.C.

He married Mary Patricia (O’Connell), at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1950.  The couple moved to Wheaton, MD shortly after their marriage where they raised their five children.  Jim worked for 37 years at C&P Telephone Company in Washington, D.C. After retiring to Littleton, N.H., in 1984, he worked with his son Jim, Jr at Littleton Sunoco and volunteered his time at St. Rose of Lima to assist others.

He is survived by his four children: Kathleen Currie and her husband Alan of Arbutus, MD, Patricia McMahon and Doug Ratford of White Plains, NY, Maureen Cooper and her husband William of Mineral, VA, and William McMahon and his wife Annette of Ellicott City, MD; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and two sisters Janet Iekel and Joan Sappington.  He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Patricia (O’Connell), sister Maureen McMahon and his son James F. McMahon, Jr.

Nothing was more important to Jim than his family. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. This included Sunday family pickup softball games, coaching and supporting youth activities, and taking vacations. He never smiled more than when he had family gathered together at Maidstone Lake, quietly making sure everyone had a fun time.

Jim was quick to offer his assistance to anyone in need. His family knew that help was one phone call away, regardless of the issue and without judgement. The greater community also benefitted from that life of service.

Above all, Jim had a deep faith in God, one that helped him through the many challenges that life threw at him. His kindness, resilience, and positive outlook served as great examples for those who had the honor of crossing paths with him.

Visiting Hours will be Thursday, April 16, 2026 5pm-7pm at Ross Funeral Home, 282 West Main St Littleton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Ryan C. Amazeen at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 am.
