James Harry Duguay 73, of Bethlehem, NH, passed peacefully in his sleep at Lebanon, NH, on Tuesday, October 20, after fighting multiple bouts of cancer and massive trauma suffered in a car accident. He was born in Lincoln, NH, the son of William and Elizabeth (Gardner) Duguay.
A Purple Heart recipient, Jim retired SSG after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Army. He served on three different continents, and survived two tours in Vietnam.
After retirement, Jim stayed true to his fellow veterans. He was very active cooking and delivering meals, visiting veterans in the hospital, and serving as commander of VFW post 816 in Littleton, New Hampshire. He was a member of the American Legion as well as a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was predeceased by his wife of forty years, Nancy (Coldwell) Duguay in 2011.
He is survived by a brother Arthur, his sons James II, Steve, and Scott, seven grandchildren, and his best friend, Duece.
Services will be held for Jim and Nancy at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
