Gail Girouard Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Gail E. Girouard, 79 of Littleton, NH on September 4, 2025 with her daughters by her side after a short battle with Acute Erythroid Leukemia.

Gail was born June 12, 1946. The youngest of three daughters of George A and Elizabeth G (Jackson) Edson.

Gail lived her whole life in Littleton and attending the local schools. In her freshman year of school, she attended Stoneleigh Girls School in Greenfield, MA. However, with the sudden passing of her father, she moved home and completed her Junior and Senior years in Littleton. Graduating from Littleton High School in 1964.

On July 24, 1965, Gail married the love of her life Gilles (Gil) Girouard. They raised three children: Michele Marie, Jay Scott and Naomi Gray. They lived all of their married life in Littleton. They were just one month shy of celebrating 51 years of marriage, when Gil passed in 2016.

Gail was a stay-at-home Mom while her children were young. Once they were all in school, she took a part-time job at the Smoke Shop on Main Street in Littleton. She eventually got a job at Burndy Corporation at the Littleton plant and during her almost 25 years of employment held various job titles. After the downsizing happened at Burndy in 2009, Gail went on to do some various jobs through a local temp agency until she officially retired in June of 2011.

During the Winter and into Spring of 2015, Gail and Gil decided to take an adventure and traveled to Arizona by way of a class A camper. With Gil as the steady driver and Gail reading the maps they navigated their way to various places like the Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, several stops in California, not to mention checking out several different speedways (Nashville, Memphis and Las Vegas) to take in their love of auto racing.

Being avid fans of NASCAR racing they channeled that love into local racing and gave their support in many ways to racers and brothers, Steve, Russ and Michael Clark.

Gail was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Strong-Nourse Post 68 for over 50 years. She held many positions at the local level and twice she was the District Director at the State level. She was a proud supporter of all service members and veterans.

Gail is survived by her daughter Michele Foster and husband Rob of Monroe, NH; daughter Naomi Girouard and partner Ron Vaillancourt of Belmont, NH; daughter-in-law Amy Girouard-Crush and husband Chuck Crush of Concord, NH. Five grandchildren: Maureen Lemay, Henry and Michel White, Joshua and Allison Girouard; along with seven great-grandsons; brothers-in-law Herb Lloyd, Don Roper, Claude (Joe) Girouard and wife Jeannette; sister-in-law Diane Richey and husband Ed; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gail was predeceased by her parents, her husband Gil Girouard in 2016; her son Jay Girouard in 2008; her sister Fay Lloyd in 2024; her sister Susie Roper in 2003 as well as her parents-in-law Phil and Rita Girouard; brother and sister-in-law Guy and Pauline Girouard; brother-in-law Yvon (Peanut) Girouard and her nephew Timothy Lloyd.

A friends and family gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 16 at the Ross Funeral Home from 10-12. A funeral will be held at 12PM with Reverend Lyn Winter officiating, followed by a graveside service at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to a local animal shelter as with Gail’s passing the invisible sign letting homeless cats and dogs know her home would welcome them, they will need support to find a new forever home.
