Frances Ellen (Cronin) O'Buchon

Frances Ellen (Cronin) O’Buchon aged 67 died peacefully at her home in Lyman, NH on March 15, 2023 with her loving daughter by her side. 

Born August 7, 1955 in Boston, MA to the late Francis E. Cronin and the late Geraldine Ann (Lang) Cronin, she spent her childhood in Foxboro, MA where she attended public school and graduated from Foxboro High School. She continued her studies at North Adams State College majoring in Philosophy and Elementary Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Of the career jobs she pursued, teaching was her main love. Teaching five years in Whitefield, NH and five years in Vail, AZ gave her a chance to meet many diverse students and afforded her the opportunity to meet many great friends. After ten years of teaching, she transitioned to a corporate job part time so that she could be with her newborn daughter, the most important part of her life. Growing into the corporate role, she spent ten years working hard to eventually become the National Service Manager of the Faxon Company. There she enjoyed making many friends and contributing to the design of a new software system to meet the needs of a growing and changing business. Her last career was as Head of Technical Service at the Mansfield Public Library in Massachusetts. Beside the enjoyment of cataloging all the materials for the library, she was thankful for the good friends she made there.

Frances’ love for reading continued throughout her lifetime. She also loved traveling within the United States, making numerous cross-country trips, missing only Alaska and Hawaii which were on her bucket list. The highlight of her travels was the 35 th wedding anniversary trip she and her husband took to Scotland, a beautiful way to celebrate their love. Her other loves included gardening, hiking, and getting together with friends. 

She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Elizabeth O’Buchon. Also, her brothers John Joseph Cronin, Daniel Edward Cronin and his wife Susan (Fletcher) Cronin, and Gerald Allen Cronin. Also, her sisters-in-law Linda (O’Buchon) Arruda, Karen O’Buchon, and Kathy Pontin. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces and numerous cousins including, Cronins, Leavitts, Goslins, Langs, Flahertys, Abbotts, Parkers, Saccos, Kellys, Pelletiers, Burys, and Ransoms. 

She is predeceased by her husband, Edmund Ernest O’Buchon, and both parents Francis E. Cronin and Geraldine Ann (Lang) Cronin as well as her sister, Barbara Ann (Cronin) Leavitt, her sister-in-law Joan (O’Buchon) Coolidge, and her brother-in-law Bill Pontin.

A Celebration of Fran's life will be held at 2pm, Sunday April 16, at the Chateau Restaurant on 48 Bay Road in Norton, MA 02766.
