Doris L. Howard, 89, passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Born in, Washington D.C. to Rev Ralph Wott a Methodist minister, and Marion Wott. She graduated from Westminster Choir College in New Jersey as a vocal music teacher. She ended up becoming a second-grade Elementary school teacher for 27 years in Hampstead Maryland. She was very active in the American Legion when she was in Maryland. She was married to Edward E. Howard a Korean vet who passed away on January 27, 1997. She then moved to Kentucky to be close to family where She was very active in the church, choir, and Eastern Star. She spent time traveling around the world after retirement with family and friends. She loved to work in her flower gardens, feeding and watching the birds and collecting teddy bears. She stayed busy making crafts, painting bears on wood stools, knitting, crocheting and cross-stitching. She loved the outdoors and was always up for a hiking adventure which a few times she was able to see a real bear. Any chance she got she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Lucille Smead and Virginia Gable.
She leaves behind her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Steve, her son Ben and daughter-in-law Lorri. 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, her sister- in-Law Barbara and 6 nephews. She will be greatly missed.
A friends and family gathering will take place on Saturday, September 10, from 10-11 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00, with burial to take place at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sugarhill, NH.
