David Donald Hannan Sr., 89, of Dalton, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at Littleton Hospital. Born on September 27, 1935, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, David attended public schools in Haverhill before earning a degree in Theology from Liberty University. He was an ordained minister and dedicated his life to both his faith and his professional career as an engineer at Raytheon, where he worked for 36 years.
David proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. A devoted member of the American Legion Post 41 in Whitefield, New Hampshire, he held numerous offices over the years and exemplified a steadfast commitment to service and community.
He is survived by his five children: David Donald Hannan Jr. and his wife Lynn of Newport, New Hampshire; Diana Lee (Hannan) Grover of Manchester; Robert Page Hannan of Claremont; Douglas Bruce Hannan of Brandon, Vermont; and Carolyn Hannan of Laconia. He is also survived by his stepson Arthur Nolan of Hillsborough, New Hampshire; two brothers, Ralph E. Hannan Sr. of Reading, Massachusetts, and Donald E. Hannan of Delta Junction, Alaska; as well as thirteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a niece, several nephews, and his beloved dog, King Charlie. David was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Johnson) Hannan, and his parents, Ralph E. Hannan Sr. and Louise (Langlois) Hannan.
A service to honor David’s life will be held at the New Hampshire's Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 41, 116 Whitefield Rd., Whitefield, NH 03598.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
