David S. Dane Sr.

David S. Dane Sr., beloved grandfather, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at his home in Franconia, NH. Dinger, as he was affectionately known, lived a life filled with fun and rowdy adventures. Those close to him knew of his kind and loving nature hidden beneath the surface. Raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Dave’s love of the outdoors was evident at an early age. He graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural School in 1977 where he gained a deep appreciation for landscaping and gardening. In 1986 his “sky’s the limit,” attitude took his career to new heights when he completed his apprenticeship as a Journeyman Iron Worker with the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers. Employed by the Iron Workers Local 7 in Boston, his contributions left an indelible mark on the City's skyline. The brotherhood he nurtured with his Union colleagues was something that he reminisced of often. In the winter months his need for speed drew him to the steep slopes of New Hampshire’s White Mountains where he spent his lifetime skiing with family and close friends. His love for the sport helped to forge unbreakable bonds and friendships. After retirement from the Local 7, Dave settled into the foothills of his Franconia, NH home where he found joy in playing bluegrass music, and tending to his vegetable garden with his cherished partner Bridget Robinson. Together, they cultivated a vibrant sanctuary that mirrored the love they shared. In the fall months Dave and Bridget would be busy canning and preserving their harvest in preparation for winter. Both were known to be excellent cooks. 

Dave’s memory will forever be treasured by his two sons, David S. Dane Jr. of Portland, ME, his daughter-in-law, Danielle, and grandson, Isaac, as well as his son Brendan Dane of Nashua, NH and grandson, Mason. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Heidi Daly, brother-in-law, Leo Daly of East Thetford, VT and nephew, Leo Daly Jr. of Windsor, VT, as well as his sister Christine S. Bresnahan of Newport, NH, and niece, Christine E. Bresnahan of Whitefield, NH. He is preceded in death by his beloved partner, Bridget Robinson, as well as his parents Frank and
Christine (Sheppard) Dane, brother, Hank (Frank) Dane Jr., and niece, Heidi Anne Daly. His witty and dry sense of humor endeared him to many. Dave’s unwavering spirit, infectious laughter,
and big heart will forever remain etched in the memories of all who were blessed to have known him. May his fearless spirit serve as a guiding light for all. 

A celebration of life for David S. Dane Sr. is being planned for Spring of 2024.
