Cindy Lou (Drake) Couturier

Cindy Lou Drake Couturier, 62 of Whitefield, NH died suddenly in her home on the morning of Christmas Eve after a brief illness. She was home with the love of her life Oliver “Lee” White. Cindy was the younger twin to Cynthia Louise Drake Schooner born in Plymouth, NH to Charles and Juanita MacDonald Drake. One of eight children, the family moved from Mystic Connecticut, and settled in the Lunenburg, VT area, always seeming to find the haunted houses to live in. Cindy devoted her adult life to caring for others as an LPN. Over the course of her nursing career, she worked in home health, Morrison Nursing Home, Grafton County Nursing home, and wrapping it up at the Northeast Correctional Complex in St Johnsbury, VT. 

Cindy’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. Gabrielle Couturier, Margarette, Rachel and Seth Bolduc, and Noah, Isaac and Lillian Couturier. She was always ready for a good visit from them and would share stories of her childhood with them while listening intently to theirs. She loved to share her art and learn new things with them. Cindy was recently teaching herself new artistic skills, always trying new mediums for her artwork, she loved to journal and was working through the list of 100 books to read before you die (she didn’t finish). Her kitten Freddy lit up her days and brought her much amusement that she would share with anyone willing to listen. Cindy was funny, caring, intelligent, kind, generous and she loved fiercely. She also loved Christmas and liked Christmas trees.

Cindy is survived by her children Allison Couturier and Charles Correll of Whitefield NH; Karen (Couturier) Bolduc and Joseph Bolduc of Dalton NH; and Patrick and Sarah (Armes) Couturier of Franconia NH; and their father Bruce Couturier of Dalton NH, as well as her adopted in love daughter Christy McKinnon Downing of Lunenburg VT. Her surviving sisters and brothers-in-law are Charlene and Michael Lewis of Whitefield, NH; Cherie VanZandt of Littleton NH; Cynthia Schooner of Littleton NH; Carla Drake of Greenfield NH; and Caroline and Martin Crooker of Lyndeborough NH as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a handful of great greats.

Cindy was predeceased by her beloved 16-year-old cat Bozo, both of her parents, her brother Francis Drake, sister and brother in law Catherine and Clyde Dobson, brother in law Lawrence VanZandt and nephew Michael Schooner.

There will be private family gatherings to celebrate her life according to her wishes. Donations may be made in Cindy's memory to the local food pantry.
