Brenda Lee (Johnson) Merchand

Brenda Johnson Merchand passed away peacefully at the age of 57 in her home in Dalton NH, on February 9, 2025. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to Lee Johnson and Alberta Lamont McDuff. 

Much of her childhood was spent in Lake Wales, FL until her family moved back to Vermont. She attended St. Johnsbury Academy, class of 1985.  A joyous moment of Brenda's life was when she married Don, her former high school sweetheart, on a beautiful fall day in 2022. They loved to dance anywhere there was music, especially their kitchen. She enjoyed the precious time spent with her daughters, like shopping, cooking and searching for sea glass on the beaches of Florida. She especially enjoyed baking with Alisabetta and foraging mushrooms and fishing with Nicoletta. 

Brenda took great pride in running the family business and greeted the customers of Trackside Farm and Garden of Littleton, NH. Many of their customers were very close friends and like family to Brenda and Don. She enjoyed quilting, loved her cats and dogs, and had a strong bond with Heidi who she nursed to health from a sickly puppy 16 years ago. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Rodney Johnson. 

She is survived by her husband Donald Merchand of Dalton NH, her two daughters, Nicoletta and Alisabetta Rauccio of Ocala FL, Her sister, Lora Schofield and husband Tony of St Johnsbury, her niece and nephews, Sylvia, Sean, and Michael Dean and grandnephew Dimitri Dean , all of St Johnsbury, Her grand Aunt, Dianne Lessard and husband Edmond of St Johnsbury and cousin "Uncle" Paul Lamont and wife Diane of St Johnsbury. Brenda is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Elaine Merchand of Monroe, NH and sister in law, Annette Page and husband Dean of Manchester, NH.

A graveside service will take place at the  John's River Cemetery in Dalton, NH, Saturday May 17, 1:00PM.
