Bradford Whipple Obituary

Bradford H Whipple, 84 of Dover, NH, passed away at Wentworth Douglas Hospital on August 18, 2022. Brad was born in Boston, MA on April 2, 1938, to Catherine Humes Whipple and Ralph Levi Whipple. He was raised in Dorchester, MA and attended Boston Latin School and University of Massachusetts.

Brad had many jobs throughout his life, including, Air Force, NSA, Peace Corps Volunteer, Police Officer, Volunteer Fire Fighter, EMT2, Selectman, Private Investigator, Innkeeper, Pemigewasset Valley Search & Rescue Team, College Professor and School Bus Driver. In addition, he also helped to create several programs in the White Mountains such as the recycling program, the ReScuba program, Twin Mountain Mutual Aid, Cannon Mountain Ski Museum, and the Franconia Ski Racing Program.

He lived a life of service to his country and his community. He also enjoyed participating in skiing and anything to do with socializing. He loved to travel, watch birds, care for his plants, sit in the sun and look at the mountains from his porch in Sugar Hill while listening to classical music. He was known for telling amazing stories of his life experiences and he loved meeting new people from around the world as well as meeting up with old friends and sharing a cocktail. 

Brad is survived by his three children: Barbara Whipple of Rollinsford, NH, Maria Sherman of Cape Coral, FL and George Whipple of Salt Lake City, UT, as well as six grandchildren who called him Tata: Connor Wybranowski, Tanner Sherman, Kristina Sherman, Kyle Wybranowski, Gianna Sherman, and Ava Rosa Whipple. In addition, he had seven great-grandchildren. He had a very special friend who he spent the last 20 years loving: Renata Vollertsen of Bavaria, Germany.  He also had a long-time friend and confidante in Jen Croteau.  He is predeceased by his parents Catherine “Nana” and Ralph Whipple, the mother of his children, Rosa Edilma Rios Whipple (Abi), and his sister Barbara A Johnston.
