Timothy W Wennrich

Bethlehem resident Timothy William Wennrich peacefully slipped the bonds of Earth this past weekend. After nearly 71 years of exploration and fun, he is reunited with his loving wife, Marianne, who forged ahead 12 years ago into the Great Beyond.

Tim lived a life often depicted in adventure books of old; he traveled extensively throughout the world, often relying on the kindness of strangers to help him along. An avid outdoorsman, he was never far from his trusty bike, travelling throughout Europe, the British Isles, and South America, finding the exotic and bringing back photos and mementos for his family to exclaim over. He loved to share a drink with new friends in a local tavern in a far-away land. Tim also loved local excursions: golfing, skiing, hiking, and canoeing the Adirondack Mountains from the time he was a boy well into his adulthood. He would pass along this love of exploration to his children and grandchildren who would often join him on an adventure or two.

Born in upstate New York, Tim grew up in Glens Falls where he met a pretty young nursing student, Marianne Angelo and began a love affair lasting nearly 35 years that produced three wonderful boys. After living in Colorado, South Korea and Rhode Island, Tim moved his family to the northern New York and raised them in the town of Canton, where the Wennrichs spent their winters skiing throughout the Adirondack Mountains and their summers enjoying time at a family camp in Tupper Lake. He and Marianne not only taught their sons how to ski and appreciate the outdoors, they also taught their sons friends as well. They opened their home to relatives and friends alike, a place of love and learning.

Needing a profession to finance his passions, Tim was a small business owner and entrepreneur, starting several successful businesses throughout Northern New York. The most prominent being the well-loved Bagel Depot, the first coffee house/sandwich shop in Canton. In his later years, Tim turned to teaching, helping the young and old achieve their education goals. After retiring and moving to the local area, Tim would often be found with friends or alone on the ski slopes of Cannon or Bretton Woods, or on a local golf course, continuing to enjoy his love of outdoors well into his 70th year.

Tim is survived by his three sons and their families: Timothy Joseph, his wife Jessie and their three children, Jeb, Cole and Ani, all of Bethlehem; Joshua, his wife Pilar and their children, Lydia and Jorin, of Alexandria, VA; Gabriel and his son Winter, of Steamboat Springs, CO. Tim is also survived by his younger sister Susan, of Saratoga Springs, NY.

His family, in their bereavement of dealing with the sudden loss of their patriarch, have asked in lieu of flowers for well wishers to make a donation to the Adaptive Program of Northern New Hampshire, PO Box 304, Franconia, NH 03580 an outreach program to help the disabled experience the joys of the outdoor world through the wonderful commitments of volunteers like Timothy.
