Sarah Flynn

 Sarah Verena Flynn of Whitefield died in her bedroom on December 17, 2017, at the age of 30. During the last years of her life, she struggled with opioid addiction that has plagued our nation. But she isn’t just one more number to add to the total deaths or just one more young person taken too soon from us. She was and is so much more.

Sarah was born in Boston on June 26, 1987, to Vicki (Weaver) and Eamon Flynn, and she and her family moved soon after to East Concord, VT, where she celebrated her 1st birthday. Although she was an only child, she had many childhood friends and loving family, who constantly filled her home and life with joy and laughter.

As a young girl, she fished and tracked animals with her father and hiked and wrote poetry with her mother. She loved animals and music, and by the time she was 12, she was an advanced fiddle player of traditional Irish music. An athlete, Sarah enjoyed Tae-Kwon-Do, swimming, soccer, and basketball. She looked out for her friends and took pride in all she did. During her school years, she was an honor student, and after graduating from Concord High School, she attended Woodbury College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies.

Sarah was a great heart full of hope and promise, with a bright future and a gift that the world lost and can never replace. Many rehabs and family help couldn’t help her win the battle; she inspired others, but she couldn’t find a way that could cure her. Her beautiful smile and contagious laughter will live on in many hearts. She was and is a beautiful soul.

Sarah leaves behind her parents, Vicki (Weaver) and Eamon Flynn; her half-sisters and brothers on her father’s side: David, Elaine (Healy), Edmund, Kevin, Siobhan (Clayton), and John Flynn; her aunt and uncle, Virginia (Weaver) and Dick Karson; 9 nephews, 8 nieces, and many, many cousins.
