Pierre William La Plante (Pete), 68, of Landaff New Hampshire passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017 with his sister Jackie and brother-in law Frank by his side. He was born in Bristol, CT on March 23, 1949. Son of Ivan and Mildred (Schnell) La Plante. Pete was a proud Navy Seabee and fought for his country in the Vietnam War. His early years were spent in Connecticut were he had taken over the family concrete construction company. In 1996 he married the one and only true love of his life, Debbie (Ball) La Plante. In 1996 Pete and Debbie moved to Grafton County or as Pete would state, "heading to the hills".

 

Pete's love for the land and animals was apparent throughout his whole life. His love of gardening produced many delicious vegetables and his love of animals led him to build many a chicken coop and barns where his rabbits, goats, chickens and ducks would thrive. Pete always had a dog by his side thru his years, for the last 5 years his faithful companion was a Sheltie named Max. He was an also a craftsman and enjoyed using his hand to build bird houses and picnic tables. Pete was an avid reader and enjoyed mostly historical and scientific literature. He was an amazing caring brother, brother-in law, uncle and friend. His family will always remember Pete as a mountain man with a heart of gold.

 

Pete is survived by by his sister and brother-in-law Jacqueline and Frank Bombaci of Florida, brother Michael La Plante of Connecticut and sister Ivy-Ann Miller of Connecticut, several nieces and nephews, a long time best friend Roger Smith of NH and his faithful dog Max. He was predeceased by his wife Debbie La Plante and Mother Mildred Schnell La Plante and father Ivan La Plante.

 

There will be a Graveside Service for Pete on Saturday June 24 at 11 am at the Center Cemetery, Cemetery Rd Landaff NH. In honor of Pete, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association on-line or mail to American Heart/American Stroke Association P.O. Box 417005 Boston, Ma 02241-7005.
