Paula Jane Thomas, aka Hunn, 62 of Littleton, NH died peacefully at home on Tuesday December 11, 2018
Paula was born on October 4, 1956 in St. Johnsbury, VT to Alton Wheeler Thomas, and Peggy Jean (Williams) Thomas. She attended St. Johnsbury Schools. Her siblings include Sharon, Donnette, and Neal. In her teenage years, the family took in their older Brothers Tim Carter and Terry Root
Paula married Wendell E. Rock in 1972 and they had 3 children; Peggy, Paul and Lori. They lived in St. Johnsbury, Gilman, Concord, and East Concord, VT. She moved to Littleton in 1994, where she lived the rest of her life.
She held many jobs in her life. Her first ever job was going on the Hood milk truck with her Grandfather Charlie Williams, as a kid. That was a highlight in her childhood. Her most notable jobs included Gilman Paper Mill, Echo Ledge Farm in East St. Johnsbury as housekeeper, Hitchiner Manufacturing in Littleton, NH, McDonalds in Littleton as a cook, Montgomery Wire as a machine operator and most recently she obtained her LNA so she could help people at Morrison Nursing Home and Personal Touch Caregiving Services.
She loved riding motorcycles in her younger years, boating on the Connecticut River where she met some dear friends that became family- Damus and Lois Champagne, Butch Smith, and many others. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren Ricardo – who started calling her HUNN when he was 2 years old and Cristina Duenas. The name stuck and everyone she met called her Hunn.
Paula is survived by children Peggy Anna Grant and husband Steven of Belmont, NH, Paul Alton Rock and significant other Katy Valdez of Danville, VT, and Lori Marie Duenas, and Fiancé David Hebert of Nashua, NH. Grandchildren include Ricardo Duenas and girlfriend Vicky Lynn White, Cristina Marie Duenas, Brittany Marie Hebert all of Nashua, NH. Siblings include Sharon Thomas of Littleton, NH, Donnette and husband Scott Cochran of Danville, VT, Neal and wife Theresa Thomas of St. Johnsbury, VT, and her older brothers Tim Carter of Pittsfield, VT and Terry and wife Lynn Root of Lebanon, NH. She has several nieces and nephews. She adopted a very special cat in 2017 named Stormy Weather, because he came home in a rainstorm; he is now living with her daughter Peggy and their 4 other cats. She has some very special friends who became family to her. They include Damey and Lois Champagne of Littleton, NH, Vivian Chamberlin, of Littleton, NH, neighbors Robin and Everett Derrington, and Theresa Comeau, and Sue Peel of Groveton, NH.
She was predeceased by her Mom Peggy in 1994, and her Dad Alton in 2013. She lost a cat in 2016 named “Uno Gato.” He was named that because he was the only cat in the litter. He was also a one person only cat….so the name fit perfectly.
Services will be in the Spring at the families convenience. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
