Norman L'Heureux Obituary

Norman Robert L’Heureux, 92, of Whitefield, passed away peacefully at Morrison Nursing Home on Sunday January 21, 2018. Norman was born October 11, 1925 in Berlin, NH to Edouard L’Heureux and Antoinette Gregoire. In 1931 his family moved to Lancaster, NH where he attended school. He then served the US Army in the Pacific Theater and received the WWII Victory Medal.

Norman married Edith Lucille Jones of Waterbury, VT in 1948 and together they had six children. He worked on the family farm for many years and then went on to work for Fitzmorris Plumbing and Heating Co. Inc. in Whitefield.

Throughout his life, he was an avid car enthusiast and his family fondly remembers rides in his Mustang. Norman enjoyed sports, most especially baseball, his favorite team being the Boston Red Sox. At the close of summer he looked forward to the Lancaster Fair to watch the horse pulling competition. Norman inherited a love of music from his parents and is remembered for his enjoyment of country music and playing the harmonica. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Norman is remembered by neighbors and friends as a kind man with a bit of humor who loved to walk to town for morning coffee and visit his favorite restaurant, Grandma’s Kitchen for the news of the day.

Norman is survived by his son, Maynard L’Heureux, daughters, Tammy Goetchius and Michelle Bray, his sister Lorraine Hodgedon, seven grandchildren, Prudence and Miranda Gould, Taylor Boydston, Robert Stevens, Jon L’Heureux, Megan and Kyle Goetchius, a great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Irene Griffin, and three of his children, Robert L’Heureux, Jonathan L’Heureux, and Marie Russell.

There will be a graveside service at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Whitefield on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 11AM.
