Welcome to the memorial page for

William "Bill" R. Hight

November 2, 2015

William “Bill” Rogers Hight, 88, Littleton, died at home on his own terms Monday, November 2, 2015 with loved ones by his side. He was born in Warren, NH in 1927 to William Sr. and Iva (Smith) Hight. He attended Plymouth High School before leaving to serve in the United States Navy from 1944-45, earning various medals including the American Theatre Medal, Aircrew Insignia, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and World War II Victory Medal.

Bill married Nancy Sleeper on August 23, 1952, the two then residing in Warren, NH. Bill’s career working for the likes of New England Telephone, Whitney’s Inc., Snap on Tools, and Emery Waterhouse brought the family to Plymouth in 1958 and then to Littleton in 1964 where they settled to raise their family.

Bills passions were his family, friends, and community. Having grown up on a farm, he enjoyed working off the family land on Slate Ledge, whether it was raising animals, haying, growing a garden, hunting, or just going for walks or rides to the top of the mountain. He also served on various community boards including the Littleton Planning and Selectboards. He was also very fond of going on fishing and golf trips with his close friends. Nothing however compared to the valuable time spent being a husband and father to his wife and children.

Bill is predeceased by his parents and loving Wife Nancy. He is survived by a son, Steven Hight and his wife Judy, of Littleton, NH, two daughters, Wanda McMahon and her husband Paul, of Belmont, NH, and Tari Stearns and her husband Tony, of Littleton, NH, six grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Deanna, Jamie, Tracie and Jesse, and three great-grandchildren Brenton, Kenzi and Mason.

There will be a celebration of life on December 12th at the Littleton VFW from 1pm to 4pm. Those who wish may make donations in Bill’s memory to the Littleton Area Historical Society, PO Box 142, Littleton, NH 03561 or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 816, 600 Cottage Street Littleton, NH 03561
