July 22, 2015

Virginia “Ginny” May (Martin) Martin, 84, of Franconia, died Wednesday July 22, 2015. She was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1931 and was raised by her aunt, Anna Dlugos. She attended the University of Bridgeport for a time, but soon met and married Warren Martin on January 20, 1951.

Ginny and Warren made a home in Groton, MA where the couple raised their family and Ginny worked at The Public Spirit in Ayer, MA. In 1972 the family moved to Hollis, NH and she found work at the Nashua Telegraph. 1979 found opportunity for the family in Whitefield, NH where the couple bought The Sleigh Bell Farm. It was a home they were very proud of and truly loved, but eventually became too large to manage and the couple moved to North Conway. While in the North Country Ginny worked at the Mt. Washington Hotel, the Mt. Washington Observatory Museum and Gift Shop, as Mrs. Clause at the Christmas Loft, as The Old Lady in the Shoe at Story Land and at Chalmers Insurance. She lived out her final years in assisted living in Littleton and Franconia.

Ginny Martin was best known for her wonderful storytelling. She was loved by many for her quick wit, compassion and sense of humor. Ginny had a strong faith and was involved in many activities at the churches she attended. Many people would describe her as a wonderful woman followed by, "we love her". She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Warren Martin. Ginny is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Strangman, Wendy Fearon, and Robin Adams, six grandchildren, Kellian, Ashley, Sandra, Jennifer, Paul and David, and several great grandchildren.
