Robert Tuite

January 1, 1921 ~ September 2, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Robert E Tuite, 95, of Littleton, NH, passed away on September 2, 2016 at The Morrison in Whitefield, NH.

Bob was born in Leeds Village, Quebec, Canada to John and Emma (Cryan) Tuite on January 1, 1921. Emma passed away when Robert was three years old. He and his brother and sisters were taken in by relatives. Eventually Bob and his brother reunited with his father in Leeds Village, a place he continued to visit frequently throughout his life. In his late teens he moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec seeking employment as an iron core maker. He met Lucille Letendre on a blind date and they were married on May 12, 1945 in Sherbrooke. They dreamed of moving to the United States and moved to Twin Mountain, NH in 1946, two weeks prior to the birth of their first child, Maureen. Bob placed great value on hard work and eventually began his own business, Robert Tuite Painting Company. Bob took pride in his craft and his insistence on delivering a quality product earned him the respect of his customers and peers. The painting company, Tuite Painting, was eventually taken over by Bob's sons and continues to operate today. Bob was active in the Littleton Lions Club for many years. He also volunteered at the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem, NH for over twenty five years. The Rock's manager, Nigel Manley, became one of Bob's closest friends. For many years, Bob and Lucille hosted Thursday night dinners for family and friends. Bob enjoyed so very much the laughter and camaraderie the weekly dinners brought to his home. Bob greatly enjoyed time spent in the woods hunting, fishing and trapping. He particularly enjoyed sharing these experiences with his children and grandchildren. The time spent tending to his vegetable garden brought him great satisfaction.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma; step-mother, Kate Donovan; eldest son, Bruce; sisters, Evelyn and Belinda; brothers, Howard and Gerald; grand daughters Elaine and Nicole.

Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lucille, three daughters Maureen and her husband, Robert, of Tiverton RI, Linda and her husband, Norman, of Manchester, NH, Karen and her husband, Michael, of Nashua, NH. Sons, John and his wife Janie of Littleton NH; Paul of Lisbon, NH; and Michael of Littleton, NH; 21 grand children as well as great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
