Peggie-Louise Craig

Peggie-Louise Craig, age 87, of Whitefield died Sunday, April 26, at The Morrison nursing home. She was born April 6, 1928 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Douglas Clarence Lee and Jane Mills (Peck) Leslie. Peggie-Lou was married to Douglas Broward Craig from 1953-1981, and together they had four children. Peggie-Lou attended Mt. Holyoke College and received her nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University. Following, graduation she worked at New York Hospital. Peggie-Lou continued to be active at both Mt. Holyoke and Johns Hopkins throughout her life, attending alumnae events, travel tours, and reunions. After some time at New York Hospital, she dedicated her life to raising her children and being of service to her community in New York. In 1983, Peggie-Lou moved to Whitefield. Through the years, she enjoyed working with the Littleton and White Mountain Garden Clubs and the Whitefield Historical Society, as well as All Saints Church in Littleton, St. Paul’s Church in Lancaster, and the Chapel of the Transfiguration in Whitefield. Peggie-Lou was active with the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire and the Washington National Cathedral. She also enjoyed and supported the performing arts in New Hampshire. She served on the board of the Weathervane Theater during the 1980s and will be remembered for her wholehearted willingness to help fulfill the theater’s needs. Peggie-Lou is survived by her children (and their spouses): Debi and Bob Soukup, Doug and Becky Craig, Beth Craig and Jon Helfman, and Bob and Lisa Craig. Her grandchildren include Reid, James, Rhianna, Elijah, Jeff, Jason and Kristin. Her great grandchildren are Vida, Aneesa, Jayla, Lawson, and Allie. Peggie-Lou is predeceased by both her brothers, Douglas and Stanley Lee. There will be a memorial service during the summer.
