James Alan “Dixie” Walker, 76 of Littleton, NH died on Friday June 5, 2015 at Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH.

Jim was born in West Stewartstown, NH on November 22, 1938 to Charles and Yvonne Walker.

He was a graduate of Littleton High School, Class of 1956. Jim was employed by J.J. Nissen Bread Company for more than 45 years, was a member of the NH National Guard for 36 years and the Elks Lodge for 55 years. In his youth he was an athlete and avid sports fan.

After retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time traveling to historical battle fields, including multiple visits to Pearl Harbor. Jim took pleasure in spending time with friends at the ELKS Lodge in Littleton and he enjoyed annual trips to Florida with his good friends to watch the Red Sox at training camp.

Jim was predeceased by his life partner and love, Verda Bailey, his infant son James Allan Walker, sister Dorothy “Hot Dot” Belmore and his brother Charles Thomas Walker.

Jim is survived by three children, Susan Clark and her husband Francis of South Burlington, VT, Steven Walker and his wife Samantha of Greenfield, NH and William Walker of Portsmouth, NH. Three grandchildren, Leeanne Hudson of Saunderstown, RI, Ross Clark of South Burlington, VT and Sarah Lane Walker of Greenfield, NH, two great grandchildren Grayson and Edward Hudson as well as his former wife Barbara Walker, mother of his children. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Ross Funeral Home in Littleton, NH on Monday June 15, 2015 from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held at Ross Funeral Home on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 11:00. A celebration of Jim’s life with be held at the ELKS Lodge in Littleton following the funeral
