Gladys I (Wells) Hanks

Gladys Hanks, 86, Whitefield NH, a beautiful lady, friend, and co-worker who was loved by everyone, died on October 29, 2017 at Country Village Center Nursing Home in Lancaster NH with family at her side. She was born August 23 1931 in Littleton to Earnest and Lena Wells (Boudreau). She grew up in Lisbon and Littleton area attended Littleton schools and graduated from Littleton High School. She married Paul Hanks, and together the couple raised a daughter.

Gladys loved the outdoors and worked on the farm on the East Whitefield Road in Whitefield along with her husband Paul for many years. Gladys was also a caregiver, housekeeper, and homemaker. She was a lifetime auxiliary member of the John W. Weeks VFW Post 3041, who attended many meetings and functions. Gardening was one of her specialties; she would take care of the flower arrangements at her church always making sure they were arranged beautifully every Sunday morning.

Gladys loved her family and it was very important to her. She enjoyed attending family gatherings, with her husband Paul by her side until his passing on November 4, 2000. Whenever possible she would also spend special time with her grandson Danny Paul and her great grandchildren Jadyn Smith and Daniel Call. Every year she would look forward going to the Lancaster Fair with her daughter and watch the horse shows and also the Lisbon Lilac Festival hoping to run into family and friends so she could visit with them. Gladys was an extremely loving and proud lady, wife, mom, sister, sister-in-law-in law, grandma and great grandma.

She leaves behind a daughter, Shirley Smith of Whitefield, one grandson Danny Paul Smith of Dalton, two great grandsons Jadyn Smith, Daniel Call a sister Sandi Dodge of Whitefield, Bette Tardiff of Pike, nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather at Ross Funeral Home, 69 Lancaster Rd, Whitefield on Monday November 6, 2017 at 11AM, with a memorial service commencing at Noon. She will be interred next to her husband Paul at the Park Street Cemetery in Whitefield, followed by a time of fellowship at the Community Baptist Church, 27 Jefferson St. Whitefield, NH.
