Eleanor S (Silver) Blake

September 8, 1934 ~ May 4, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Eleanor S. Blake of Lisbon, NH passed away at the Morrison Assisted Living facility in Whitefield, NH, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 surrounded by her close family, due to a short illness.

Eleanor, was born Eleanor Lousie Silver, to Wesley and Alma Silver at home on Water Street in Lisbon, NH of September 8, 1934. She was the youngest daughter of seven children. Eleanor attended Lisbon Regional School and graduated in 1952. She remained very close to her high school classmates throughout her life. She worked for George E. Clark at Merrill’s Insurance Agency in Lisbon for many years. At age 13 Eleanor met Donald A. Blake of Pike and they eventually wed in April, 28 1956. In 1971 they adopted a daughter, Mary Ann. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Lisbon, NH and was active in the Lisbon-Landaff Shared Ministry when she was able.

Eleanor was known for her love of animals and managed to care for many of the stray population of Riverside Avenue and the surrounding area over the years.

Eleanor had a love for life and those around her. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family reminiscing and making new memories. Her door was always open to those who needed her. She would always have a kind word, funny memory, and a cup of coffee when you visited.

Over the years both Eleanor and Donald were very important in the lives of their nieces and nephews who knew they were always welcome.

Eleanor is survived by her older sister Dorothy Deming, Daughter Mary Ann Jock, Son-in-law Brett Jock, Grand-daughters Blake Jock and Casey Jock, Nieces and nephews who were exceptionally close: Maurice A. Deming Jr., Linda Deming, David Deming, Steven Deming, Kathy Mayo, Doug Silver, Clifford E. Silver Jr., Gerry Silver, Jon Silver, Stan Silver, Sandy, Donna Nettleton, Diane Daniels, Ginny Lucas, Marjorie Cry and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was pre-deceased by her husband Donald Blake; sisters and brothers: Clifford E. Silver, Wendell “Ben” Silver, Irvena Dodge, Virgil B. Silver, Geraldine Vickers; nieces and nephew: Debbie Flesher, Pricilla Hunt, Barbara Lee Casey, Ronald Dodge,

Services will be held at Lisbon-Landaff Shared Ministry white church, on June 17, 2017 at 1:30pm with Reverend Lyn Winter as Celebrant. Refreshments will be offered after, and all are encouraged to stay to help us celebrate Eleanor’s life.

A special thank you to the staff and volunteers of the Morrison Nursing facility for giving Eleanor a safe and loving place to call home for these past years, and for helping her and her close family adjust to her final days.

Instead of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation in Eleanor’s name to your local animal rescue organization, we felt it would be a fitting tribute.
